CDC Summit: carers feel they’re stealing when accessing respite care

Provisions for respite care funding should come from a separate stream so carers can choose the respite they need, Carers Australia chief executive Ara Cresswell said at a recent summit.

“If it’s part of the package of the person they care for, they simply don’t use it because they feel like they’re stealing from the person they’re caring for,” Cresswell said.

Health editor Dallas Bastian spoke with Cresswell at the Consumer Directed Care Summit in Sydney.
