The stories of carers who have lost loved ones have been brought together for a book that aims to give readers strength, comfort and advice.
Author Jodi Rose became carer to her husband, Olympic swimmer Murray Rose, in 2012 and saw him through his final months of life. Rose decided to create Journeys of the Heart: Carers’ Stories of Love, Loss and Transformation after she was unable to find a book to guide her through the experience.
The book includes stories of a number of different carers’ experiences, including Rose’s own and those of medical professionals who have cared for a loved one facing the end of life.
“The depth of what inspired me came forth when I asked myself, ‘How am I going to begin to heal, who am I now after my loved one has passed and how might I help others from what I learn?’,” Rose told Aged Care Insite.Do you have an idea for a story?
