Move over Banksy: seniors take to street art

Bryon Bay residents might have caught sight of a group of seniors tagging up a Mitre 10 by some old train tracks recently.

The group, called the Feros Silver Foxes, were invited by local graffiti artist Davey, aka Teazer, to see a demonstration at the popular practice site for street artists. They took up a spray can to leave their own mark on the wall.

Prior to this, Teazer showed the seniors around his Stay Gold Studio and spoke with them about street art, its history and tagging.

Feros Silver Fox member, Fran Boyle, was impressed by the art form. She said: “I think it’s very clever, [more] than I ever thought or realised”.

Resident Nina Marzi said the experience was eye opening. “You never stop learning,” Marzi said. “Today, I learned so many different things.”
