Aged care workers are invited to attend a LASA webinar on nutrition and food best practice in the sector next week.
The Food in Residential Aged Care webinar will be run by a panel of experts, including Bond University nutritionist Cherie Hugo, ageing and health writer Ngaire Hobbins, and Noosacare chief executive Sandra Gilbert.
The event will be held on Wednesday 28 February at 11am (AEDT), and can be attended in person at the LASA Brisbane office, or online.
LASA chief executive officer Sean Rooney said the webinar would look at industry initiatives promoting better dining, and also provide a chance to hear from Australian researchers.
“I know our industry takes the issue of nutrition very seriously as a core element of ensuring quality care for older Australians. This is the chance for our industry to ask questions and share experiences,” Rooney said.
“While we all strive to deliver excellent services in food and catering, there is always more to learn and new ideas to consider.”
The webinar will be facilitated by Marcus Riley, chief executive officer of BallyCara.
In its pre-Budget submission, LASA has called for Commonwealth funds for a project to identify best-practice and innovative directions for food services in residential aged care.
