CEO’s report

I am continually in awe of the expertise, experience and passion of RCNA members, and I would like to share some recent events that have led me, once again, to this realisation.

Firstly, I was inspired by the discussions at the recent RCNA National Nursing Summit. Over the coming months, I’m sure those conversations will continue to spark ideas about how nurses can be involved in policy development and how nurses can be leaders in health care delivery. These discussions will also continue to direct RCNA’s activities, and further comments and feedback from our members are always welcome.

Secondly, I have been inspired by the passion and dedication of our new generation of nurses, which has become all the more evident since the launch of the RCNA New Generation of Nurses Faculty. As an experienced nurse myself, I think I can speak for many of us when I say we sometimes need to be reminded that new nurses have a lot to offer the profession.

Now we would like to hear from the more experienced nurses in our membership. On 17 August, we will hold a second ‘think tank’ meeting at National Office to discuss, explore and target the issues important to you. To find out more, please contact Amy Williams, Executive Assistant at [email protected].

I also recently attended the 2010 Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Awards ceremony, where I accepted a trophy on behalf of the nursing profession, once again voted one of the most trusted professions. So I want to thank all of you for the fantastic work you do – for your skills, knowledge and care, for your expertise, experience and passion!
