The International Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network Conference was a huge success, writes Debra Cerasa.
What a fantastic event the 6th International Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network Conference was! Over 400 national and international nurses and nursing leaders joined us in Brisbane to discuss the role, responsibilities and way forward for nurse practitioners and advanced practice nurses, and to learn from the experiences of our colleagues.
We heard about a range of amazing nurse-led initiatives that are having a significant impact on communities around the world, in areas such as palliative care, chronic kidney disease, aged care, Indigenous Australians’ health, diabetes and sexual health.
We also explored professional issues surrounding the nurse practitioner and advanced practice nursing roles, including prescribing principles, ethical and legal responsibilities, collaborative health care models and education.
It was really inspiring to hear so many positive experiences and achievements in nursing from all corners of the globe and a great reminder that no matter where we are nurses are all working together to achieve the same thing – better standards of health care and better health outcomes for our communities.
