Nursing innovation and leadership in primary health care: directions for the future

The 2010 Community and Primary Health Care Nursing Conference will bring together nurses working across the many areas of community and primary health care.

Nurses have a presence in nearly all primary health care settings and are able to extend their services well beyond the boundaries of the health system. The reach and community engagement of nurses, particularly in primary health care settings, is unmatched by any other health profession.

The success of any innovation in primary health care delivery is dependent on acknowledging, engaging and expanding the role of nurses. Reforms to our primary health care system must acknowledge the predominance of nursing across the primary health care system and increase the accessibility, flexibility and reach of nursing services.

The 2010 Community and Primary Health Care Nursing Conference will bring together nurses working across the many areas of community and primary health care to examine nursing services and options for expanding, retaining and creating nurse-led opportunities in the delivery of primary health care.

The 2010 Community and Primary Health Care Nursing Conference will be held from 24 – 26 October 2010, at the Crowne Plaza in Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

Attendees at the conference will earn up to 12 RCNA CNE points.
