Get ready for Dementia Training Australia’s inaugural symposium: United for Dementia Care

On Wednesday 14 May 2025, allied health professionals from across Australia will unite at the Adelaide Oval in the name of delivering high quality dementia care

As Australia’s leading provider of dementia training, Dementia Training Australia (DTA) recognises the importance and value of allied health professionals in dementia care.

That's why, on Wednesday 14 May, allied health professionals are invited to United for Dementia Care, a special one-day event in Adelaide to improve the lives of people living with dementia. This free event is designed to facilitate discussions about the latest research and innovative strategies across the various disciplines of allied health – from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to dieticians, speech pathologists, music therapists, podiatrists and optometrists.

The outcomes of the day are all about boosting independence, wellbeing, and dignity for those living with dementia.

Providing equal access to quality training

Dementia Training Australia is supported by the Australian Government under the Dementia Training Program. DTA’s mission is to provide equal access to quality training, Australia wide.

This inaugural in-person event is free of charge to minimise barriers to entry, and ensure all those living with dementia have access to quality care by carers having access to quality training.

Included in each free ticket is an exclusive DTA goodie-bag, access to all symposium sessions and exhibitor stalls, break out activities such as tai chi on the lawn, and an end-of-day networking session with drinks and canapes. This is an event not to miss!

Inspiration takes the stage

Inspirational Aussie Olympian Hayley Lewis is our MC and will set the tone for the day. At her first Olympics in Barcelona 1992, Hayley took home a Silver and a Bronze in swimming. Today, in between her role as an inspirational speaker and endeavours of becoming a qualified psychologist, she continues to be the very proud mum of her two sons Jacob and Kai – who is currently in pursuit of his own success in the Olympic swimming pool.

Hayley will lead a lineup of inspirational speakers including:

  • Allied health professionals Elaine Hunter and Ellie Newman
  • Researchers Dr Claire O’Connor, Professor Michele Callisaya and Dr Morag Taylor
  • First responder Lindsay Bent
  • Dementia carer Vicki Barry
  • Plus many more!
