Aged care worker charged with sexual abuse of seven patients

A woman has been charged with a raft of offences after videos of elderly residents were found on her phone

A Sydney aged care worker allegedly sexually abused elderly residents and shared recordings of the acts with her partner.

Police allege Tracy Leah Salmon assaulted seven patients, at an aged care facility in southwest Sydney, after finding videos on her phone.

It will be alleged in court the 47-year-old committed and recorded the acts against five men and two women between August 4 and August 27, 2024.

The families of the alleged victims have been notified of the incidents.

Ms Salmon’s partner Troy Campbell, 54, was also charged with bestiality offences as part of an investigation by NSW Police’s Sex Crimes Squad which began in March under Strike Force Saddleworth.

The couple are pictured together on Ms Salmon’s social media pages, where she described him a the “best man I have ever known”.

“As part of inquiries, detectives seized the woman’s phone and uncovered videos depicting sexual abuse being carried out against elderly patients at an aged care facility in Grasmere, where she was employed,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“It will be further alleged the woman was sharing the videos of the assault with her partner, a 54-year-old man.

“Detectives also found recordings of bestiality on the phone, which were unrelated to the aged care facility.”

Mr Campbell was arrested at his Heckenberg home on Wednesday before being charged with four counts each of possessing bestiality material and disseminating bestiality material.

He fronted Liverpool Local Court on Thursday and was granted bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on June 18.

Ms Salmon was on Thursday charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault, 11 counts of aggravated sexual touching, two counts of sexual touching, 13 counts of recording intimate images without consent, nine counts of distributing intimate image without consent and four counts of possessing bestiality material.

She has been refused bail and is due to face court today.

These charges come after Ms Salmon was earlier this month sentenced for racking up $18,000 on a credit card stolen from an 89-year-old woman under her care, among a litany of other charges.

The court heard Ms Salmon stole the elderly woman’s credit card from her purse in her room after speaking to her about her lack of family and next-of-kin while “assisting her with paperwork”, and discovering she had no power-of-attorney .

The Campbelltown woman made more than 311 transactions between September and October, including on jewellery, amusement park rides, arcade games, sweets, fast food, cigarettes and alcohol.

She was sentenced to 18 months behind bars with a non-parole period of nine months.
