Australia remains a long way from providing everyone with access to quality end-of-life care, the nation’s peak palliative care group states.
“We remain a very long way from achieving our goals,” Palliative Care Australia chief executive Liz Callaghan said.
The group put forward five recommendations to help provide a more thorough approach to palliative care. These include the development and implementation of a palliative care workforce strategy, an awareness campaign, and a feasibility study for community-based palliative care packages.
Callaghan spoke with Nursing Review about what the group believes should be prioritised in the upcoming budget.
