A Queensland University of Technology researcher has shed light on the benefits other countries have seen from introducing a national program to monitor health-care associated (HAI) infection rates.
PhD researcher Philip Russo said National HAI surveillance programs are associated with reduction in preventable infections because they help pinpoint problems in hospitals or local areas where infection prevention is poor. Russo said he acknowledges the Rosemary Norman Foundation and the Nurses Memorial Centre through the award of the “Babe” Norman Scholarship to enable his PhD studies.
