Devil in the detail

Nurses in NSW to decide on ratio offer and further action.

NSW nurses will soon find out the details of the state governments new offer on their ratios and staffing claim, with the deal to be considered tonight by the NSW Nurses Associationā€™s committee of delegates.

It is then expected to go before members within a week to be voted on.

NSWNA members started re-opening nearly 600 closed hospital beds from January 13 as a result of the government coming to the table after eight days of action.

The health department describes the details of the offer as "fair and reasonable".

"Quite frankly I think the offer is going to have to be pretty good for our members to accept,ā€ acting general secretary of the nurses' union, Judith Kiejda, said.
