Nurse-to-patient ratios in Victoria's public hospitals will be enshrined in state law.
The legislation, to be introduced to parliament this week, will also cover midwives, and mirror the ratios included in a current Public Sector Enterprise Agreement.
Private hospitals and residential aged-care facilities will fall outside of the new laws.
