The Coronavirus Podcast – episode 13

Have you ever experienced COVID-rage? That is, anger brought on by social distancing or the lack thereof.

Like when you go to the shop or a cafe and people seem to have totally forgotten about social distancing and stand right up close to you?

Or when you went for your daily walk during lockdown and the runners would cut you up, so close that you could feel their sweat as they zip past?

Or perhaps you are avoiding the crowds by heading to work by car or walking down quiet streets.

For many the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted a distinct lack of space to move freely in our cities and, importantly, at a safe distance.

Dr Ben Beck, Senior Research Fellow in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, is one of more than 100 Australian health and transport experts to have signed an open letter calling on governments to enact urgent measures to support safe walking and cycling and social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beck joins host Conor Burke to discuss ways in which we can physically distance safely in Australian cities.
