Inala Primary credits award triumph to new technology

The AGPAL and QIP Excellence Awards have been run and won, with Inala Primary Care taking out the prized gong for General Practice of the Year. Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited and Quality Innovation Performance presented the awards covering the timeframe of January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015.

The group chief executive of AGPAL and QIP is Dr Stephen Clark. He provided an overview of these awards and what the recognition means.

“The AGPAL General Practice Awards recognise and reward the commitment that practices make to quality improvement within Australia’s healthcare setting,” Clark said. “I was privileged to gain a unique insight into the inspiring achievements taking place within the healthcare environment."

Tracey Johnson, chief executive of Inala Primary Care, attributed its victory to the installation of the latest technology in its practice.

“This technology has transformed the culture at Inala Primary Care into a tech-savvy, dynamic workplace, rarely seen in the sector,” Johnson said. “We have taken hundreds, if not thousands, of Word documents, checklists, templates, manuals and more into a digital, intranet-based practice manual that links policies and procedures, stores all records and links to other databases.

“Our systems ensure our healthcare professionals have access to the latest evidence, which results in the best patient care, as well as reducing clinician time and stress, a key factor when serving such a complex group of patients."
