RCNA Corporate Partner profile – Eastern Health

Introducing RCNA’s new corporate partner.

RCNA is pleased to introduce Eastern Health as an RCNA Corporate Partner. Eastern Health covers the largest area of any metropolitan health service in Victoria, providing essential services and programs across a range of specialty areas.

“Eastern Health provides a comprehensive range of high quality acute, sub-acute, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care and community health services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, social-economic status, population and health care needs,” says David Plunkett, Eastern Health’s Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer.

“We deliver clinical services to more than 700 000 people through seven Clinical Programs from more than 25 different locations. Our services are located across 2800 square kilometres in the east.”

“We employ over 8000 people, deliver more than 800 000 episodes of patient care each year and manage a budget approaching $700m per year,” he said.

It can be difficult for large organisations to remain person-centred, but Mr Plunkett says Eastern Health is all about offering quality and appropriate services, striving to achieve its vision of encouraging ‘great health and wellbeing’ as well as being “progressive, responsive and innovative”.

Further, Eastern Health is dedicated to supporting its health care staff through professional development and strategies to help recruit and retain a quality, committed workforce. Mr Plunkett says the organisation’s newly released strategic plan has a “strong focus on patient care, staff and community”.

RCNA is proud to partner with Eastern Health and support this organisation’s commitment to excellence and highest health care standards. Partnering with RCNA will create further professional development opportunities for Eastern Health staff, as well as help them stay up-to-date with news, developments, professional issues and opportunities in nursing and ensure they are well-connected to the wider network of nurses.
