Plans are well advanced to deliver a national approach to graduate recruitment.
Graduate nurses unable to find work will be able to register their name on a website currently being developed by Health Workforce Australia.
CEO, Mark Cormack confirmed to Nursing Review that HWA was working with universities, jurisdictions and employers to advance the strategy.
As part of the website, newly graduated nurses will be able to register their interest in work and employers can also register their vacancies suitable for new graduates, he said.
Discussions are currently underway to find an auspicing body for the service.
Cormack said that while the work was continuing it was not possible to release details of a start date.
The organisation has been charged with responsibility for projecting existing health workforce requirements for graduate nurses, midwives and doctors between 2012 and 2025.
The national training plan is due to be completed in December and a final report delivered to the Australian Health Ministers Conference at the end of 2012.
