Cosmetics procedures growth sparks new course

Training provider The Advanced Skills Academy has launched a new cosmetic injectors course to meet the rising demand for cosmetic procedures.

The course is only open to RNs and doctors, who have seen the number of cosmetic procedures grow between 40 to 50 per cent in the last 5 years.

Head medical director Dr Adam Cho said people are now no longer ashamed to talk about cosmetic enhancements.

“It’s no secret that people are wanting to stay younger for much longer," Cho said. "It’s a normal desire for people to look and feel younger and it’s done through injectables and cosmetics.

“They are talking more openly about cosmetic injectables with their friends and are approaching this procedure more openly than any time before."

Cho said nurses can apply the theory learned through the course into their future career, which would enable them to perform tasks like lip enhancements and cheek augmentations.

“A career as a cosmetics nurse is different as it’s done in a different environment, and for those looking for a career change they can supplement their position in an area of high demand," he said.
