Ageism may be driving homelessness numbers up: podcast

A manager of an aged care provider has said ageist attitudes may be behind the rising number of homelessness among older people.

NSW has followed Victoria in putting forward recommendations to address the 42 per cent increase of homelessness among older people over the past decade.

Aged care provider Uniting's general manager Tamara Pararajasingham says ageism within the community may be preventing the nation to adequately house older people.

"Systemically and deeply as a nation, we are dealing with a crisis of ageism in this country," she says.
