Winning the race to secure overseas aged care workers: podcast

Australia needs to up its game in attracting overseas aged care workers to plug staffing gaps before competition with countries like New Zealand and Canada becomes more fierce, experts say.

Chief executive of the Aged Care Workforce Industry Council, Louise O’Neill, says it's a contest our country doesn't have the luxury to lose out on.

"It's a natural progression from the lack of migratory movement during COVID," she says.

"Now that all borders are opening up again, we don't want to miss the boat.

"We need to be jumping onto this and get people in as soon as we can otherwise we'll be potentially left out."

Louise joined Aged Care Insite in a conversation on how Australia can win the race to import aged workers to address workforce shortages.
